Beatles at the Ridge has quickly become one of the fastest growing festivals in the southern United States, with a crowd of over 10,000 attending last year. This year’s schedule includes an expanded variety of music, according to organizers.
The festival kicks off Sept. 20 with three musical acts on the First National Bank Beatles Park Stage. Also Friday night is a presentation by renowned author Jude Southerland Kessler, entitled “Lennons’ Liverpool,” starting at 7:30 p.m. in The Venue on Main Street.
Friday night, come dressed as your favorite Beatles, or in 60’s or Rock n’ Roll attire. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes for best costume will be given away.
Entertainment is set for three separate stages all day Saturday, leading up to vintage rock ‘n’ roll Saturday afternoon and evening.
Stan Perkins returns after a rousing performance at last year’s festival. The son of rockabilly legend Carl Perkins takes the stage at 5 p.m. Sun Studios artist Sonny Burgess and the Legendary Pacers perform at 6 p.m., followed by Memphis rockabilly artists Stunning Cunning Band at 7:15.
BritBeat, considered one of the top Beatles tribute bands in North America, takes the stage at 8:45 p.m. BritBeat performs top Beatles hits, with a focus on their early years. Gary Jacob of Abbey Road on The River said, “BritBeat is the best Beatles Tribute Band in North America and at this moment in time has the most authentic John-Paul in the business…and I have seen them all.”
Games, inflatables, crafts and a Beetle-Bug Car Show are just a few of the many activities taking place during the festival, making it a fun-filled event for the entire family.
