Downtown Walnut Ridge and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce received “The Bootstrap Award” at the annual Henry Awards Banquet on March 5 at the 39th Governor’s Conference on Tourism held in Hot Springs.

The Bootstrap Award is given annually to an individual, organization or community that has achieved significant success with limited means to work with either in resources or finances.
“It was exciting when Downtown Walnut Ridge and the Lawrence County Chamber won the prestigious Bootstrap Award,” said Ark. Sen. Robert Thompson who attended the event. “A lot of people around the state are beginning to pay attention to the good things going on in Lawrence County.”
Accepting the Bootstrap Award for Downtown Walnut Ridge and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce were Charles and Jackie Snapp, Danny and Cara West, Danny and Sue Gibson, Fran Cavenaugh, Dr. Brett Cooper and LJ Bryant.
Charles Snapp said those accepting represented many who have contributed to the effort. “It is an award for many, many people, and I’m proud to have been among those there to accept it on everyone’s behalf!”
