Idle Minds is a three-piece band from Jonesboro, AR.
Consisting of Jon Jones, Kerri Faries and Collin Kidd, the trio plays a wide range of styles with an acoustic base and a focus on harmonies. They are influenced by a wide range of bands from Fleetwood Mac to Alice In Chains. Idle Minds is a group flexible enough to perform low key at restaurants but also able to bring life to the party playing songs people know and love. The band has been around since early 2018 and have enjoyed playing somewhere in the area most weekends.
Jon Jones was born and raised in Jonesboro and began playing music at the age of 10 – first as a saxophonist in the school band and later switched to guitar at age 12. Influenced by the likes of Jimmy Page, Slash, David Gilmour and Jerry Cantrell, he later went on to play in several bands around the area such as Product of Society, Tuxedo Flamethrower and The Indifferents. Adding vocals, harmonica and finger style picking to his repertoire over the years, he formed Idle Minds with Collin and Kerri with a more acoustic focus.
Kerri Faries was born in Paragould and raised in surrounding area. She began singing in school choir at the age of 13 and continued until she graduated from Westside High School in 1998. Influenced by several female singers such as Stevie Knicks, Janis Joplin and Loretta Lynn, her vocal style is raspy rock and roll with a touch of soul and country.
